eSSENCE research combines advanced computational and data analysis methods with challenges from a wide range of scientific disciplines, spanning natural and engineering sciences, medicine, social sciences, economics, and the humanities. The focus is on developing and applying e-Science methods that enable new insights, interdisciplinary breakthroughs, and solutions to complex problems.
eSSENCE focuses on four strategic research areas — Materials Science, Life Sciences, Home Planet Earth, and Cornerstone Technologies — where e-Science methods are key drivers of progress. Particular priority is given to collaborative projects that pave the way for new applications and interdisciplinary breakthroughs.
